MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore forward Deana Everrett has been named the BIG EAST offensive player of the week after tallying two goals and one assist in a 3-0 win over Georgetown on Sunday. It is the second time this season that she has earned this award.
The Oakville, Ontario, Canada native continues to be among the nation’s leading scorers after netting her 15th and 16th goals of the season against the Hoyas. She now trails former All-American Katie Barnes (17 G - 2000) for second all-time in single season scoring. Everrett’s 16 goals is also the most ever by a player in her sophomore season at WVU.
Everrett currently leads the BIG EAST in goals per game (1.00) and total points with 38, which is the third best single season total in school history. She also ranks second in the league in shots (64) and shots per game (4.00).
West Virginia (13-1-2, 7-1-1 BIG EAST) returns to action at home on Friday, Oct. 20, to face Connecticut at 7 p.m., with a chance to clinch the top spot in the BIG EAST American Division.
