Men's Basketball: WVU 11th in Both Polls

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia moved two spots to No. 11 in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 poll, and dropped two spots from No. 9 to No. 11 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 released today.
The Mountaineers (15-4) went 1-1 last week, losing 58-52 to Marshall in Charleston last Wednesday before downing St. John’s 66-61 in Madison Square Garden Sunday afternoon. West Virginia remains atop the Big East standings with a 6-0 league mark.
Connecticut, a half-game behind West Virginia, remains the nation’s top-ranked team after posting victories over St. John’s and Providence. The Huskies have a showdown with No. 9-rated Pitt Tuesday night in Storrs.
Other nationally ranked Big East teams in the AP poll include No. 4 Villanova and No. 17 Georgetown. The Hoyas are ranked 22nd in this week’s ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.
West Virginia returns to the court Wednesday night at the WVU Coliseum to face Notre Dame at 7 pm. There are no tickets remaining for the contest.
