Gymnastics: Four-Team Meet at Penn State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team will compete against the top two teams from the Big Ten Conference this weekend when the Mountaineers travel to No. 7 Penn State for a four-team meet that includes No. 2 Michigan and Cornell.
The meet will take place Saturday, Jan. 21, at Penn State’s Rec Hall in University Park, Pa., beginning at 7 p.m.
The Mountaineers (0-1) are coming off a low score in their season opener, losing at No. 11 Auburn, 195.3-188.125, on Friday, Jan. 13.
Penn State (1-1) is hosting its second straight home meet after placing second in a three-team meet last week, compiling a 194.875 team score. Michigan (0-0-1) tied sixth-ranked Nebraska last week with scores of 195.675 apiece, while Cornell (1-4) took fifth place at the George Washington Invitational with a 181.55.
WVU competed against all three of this meet’s opponents last year in three separate meets within an eight-day span from Feb. 13-20, losing at home to Penn State (196.65-195.425) and at Michigan (196.95-193.125), before winning at Cornell (193.55-189.625).
