MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team will compete in the 50th annual Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind., on Friday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m.
The 5k race will be held at the on-campus Notre Dame Golf Course. WVU will race against 21 other schools in the women’s gold division. This is the first time WVU has traveled to Notre Dame since 1996.
“We are excited to go back to Notre Dame on a national class cross country course that will allow us the opportunity to compare ourselves with top teams,” head coach Sean Cleary says. “Each week we are getting fitter and I’m excited to see where we are at before heading into the championship season.”
Senior Susan Davis will lead the Mountaineers after coming off of her first career-winning race at the Lock Haven Invitational on Sept. 17. Freshman Alison Spiker finished 18th and sophomore Nicole Lemal placed 23rd, respectively, helping the Mountaineers to finish third out of 11 teams.
