MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men’s soccer team will go for win number six on the season when it hosts Robert Morris on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Mountaineers (5-4-0, 2-2-0 BIG EAST) are coming off of a 2-0 win over DePaul on Sunday, Sept. 25, in Morgantown. WVU dominated the match and received goals from senior Devon McTavish and freshman Zak Boggs.
West Virginia has been almost impossible to stop at home since DDSS was built in 2004. The team boasts a 12-2-1 record at the facility.
Goalkeeper Nick Noble and the Mountaineer defense have been stifling throughout the season as they have allowed only six goals in nine games. The defensive unit is currently sitting on five shutouts for the season and with 10 matches to play has a legitimate chance of breaking the school record, which stands at nine set by the 1989 and 1998 teams.
The defense has also not allowed more than two goals in a match for 32 consecutive games.
The Colonials (4-2-0, 0-0-0 NEC) are off to a fast start in 2005 and will enter the match looking for its first win in Morgantown since 1996. Sophomore forward Jacek Przednowek leads the RMU offense so far this season with seven goals through six games. The Ontario, Canada, native has scored in five consecutive matches.
WVU leads the all-time series by an 11-6-0 edge. The Mountaineers also own a seven-game winning streak against the Colonials.
