MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The 10th-ranked West Virginia University women’s soccer team plays host to No. 23 Tennessee at 1 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 4, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The Mountaineers (1-2-0) enter the contest looking to snap a two-match losing streak following losses at Virginia (Aug. 28) and at Pitt (Sept. 1).
The Lady Vols (0-1-0) play host to Washington State tonight at 7 p.m., before making the trip to Morgantown. Tennessee is 0-1-0 prior to that contest, having fallen to North Carolina, 7-1, on Friday, Aug. 26.
West Virginia and Tennessee met for the first time in 2003, a 2-0 Mountaineer victory over the Lady Vols in Knoxville.
Sunday’s match is West Virginia’s second of six matches against Top 25 opponents this season and the first of three consecutive matches versus ranked teams. Next weekend (September 9-11), the Mountaineers travel to Portland, Ore., for the Nike Invitational where they will meet No. 20 Washington on Friday night at 7:30 p.m., and No. 4 Portland on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. Both times are Eastern.
