Swimming: Mountaineers Earn High Academic Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men's and women's swimming teams have achieved the honor of College Swimming Coaches Association of America Academic All-America Swimming Team for the 2005 spring semester.
To qualify for this honor, the grade point average of the entire swimming and diving squad must average at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. West Virginia fell in the commendable category with a GPA of 2.8 or better.
Six swimmers achieved a 4.0, including David Matthews, Jennifer Nyce, Bonnie Sutton, Anne Tierney, Manuela Trabert and Julia Warnken. Eleven garnered a GPA of 3.5 or higher and 13 earned at least a 3.0.
In the spring of 2005, 289 teams from around the country also met the criteria.
