Women's Soccer: WVU Opens BIG EAST Play at Pitt

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The tenth-ranked West Virginia University women’s soccer team travels to Founders Field in Indianola, Pa., for its BIG EAST opener versus Pitt at 7 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 1.
The Mountaineers enter the match having posted a 1-1-0 season-opening weekend. WVU downed Dayton, 3-1, on Friday, Aug. 26, before falling at No. 5 Virginia, 1-0, the following Sunday.
Pitt carries a 1-0-0 record into the match, having defeated Marshall 1-0 last Sunday.
WVU owns a 8-1-0 all-time record against the Panthers in series play that began in the 1996 season. Last season the Mountaineers routed the Panthers, 6-1, at Founders Field.
West Virginia has won four of its previous BIG EAST openers, two of which came on the road.
The Mountaineers return to Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium for their second home match of the season on Sunday, Sept., 4 when they play host to No. 23 Tennessee at 1 p.m.
