Volleyball: WVU Set For Season Opener

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University volleyball team will open its 2005 campaign on Friday, August 26, with a 4 p.m. match against Idaho at the AmeriHost Volleyball Invitational in Athens, Ohio. This will mark the first meeting between the two squads.
The Mountaineers are coming off an 18-13 record in 2004. Head coach Veronica Hammersmith enters her 31st season at the helm of the program with a career mark of 521-485.
West Virginia returns five starters, including seniors Julie Hockenson, Kelly Mullins, Stephanie Zolna and juniors Gina Cusanelli and Aurora Ebert-Santos.
The Mountaineers will also take on Tennessee-Martin Saturday, August 27, at 4 p.m., followed by a match with Ohio at 7 p.m.
