Women's Basketball: Sanni Honored

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University women's basketball sophomore center Olayinka Sanni was recently selected as the "overall player showing the most promise" after she attended Pete Newell's Tall Women's Post Camp last month.
Sanni, a Chicago Heights, Ill., native, was one of 50 college players invited to participate in the camp held in Monterey Bay, Calif., the week of July 18.
"It was a fun experience," Sanni said. "I'm glad I went because I learned a lot of different moves that I never had seen before that I can work on for this year. It was certainly worthwhile and I definitely could see a difference in my play from before I went to after I returned.
"I was surprised for the honor. It shocked me, honestly. It's more motivation for me to continue to get better. I can't wait for the upcoming season."
"It's very exciting for her and the program that she did so well against some of the top posts in the country," WVU coach Mike Carey said. "I hope that will give her the confidence to continue to improve and lead to her becoming one of the best posts in the BIG EAST this season."
Sanni, who averaged 7.2 points and 4.9 rebounds per game as a freshman in 2005 for the Mountaineers in 16 starts, was instrumental in WVU's run to the postseason WNIT championship game.
