Women's Track: Metcalfe Academic All-American

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University senior distance runner Megan Metcalfe has been named to ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-American women's cross country/track & field national third team as selected by College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA).
The Edmonton, Alberta, native recently won the 5,000m national championship at the 2005 NCAA outdoor track and field championships in Sacramento, Calif., with a time of 16:31.88 to garner her school record ninth All-America honor since 2001.
A physical therapy major, Metcalfe has maintained a 3.59 GPA. In 2002, she was named to the Academic All-American all-district II second team
To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must have sophomore standing and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.
