MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - For the first time in program history, an incoming women’s soccer class has earned a Top 10 ranking.
SoccerBuzz, an online magazine covering only women’s soccer, tabbed the Mountaineer newcomers as the sixth-best freshman class in the country.
The rankings mark the third-straight year in which West Virginia has made the Top 25 (21st in 2004 and 18th in 2003).
West Virginia and Notre Dame (No.9) were the only two BIG EAST schools ranked the Top 10.
Eleven highly touted recruits are set to join the Mountaineers in the fall. They are: Greer Barnes (Rye, N.Y.), Stephanie Baugh (Kansas City, Mo.), Mallory Beck (Johnston, Iowa), Stephanie Burgess (Morgantown), Amanda Cicchini (Oakville, Ontario, Canada), Iesha Efiom (Bloomington, Ind.), Deana Everrett (Oakville, Ontario, Canada), Kelsey Fowler (Wheeling, W.Va.), Krystle Kallman (Woodbury, Minn.), Michelle Molinari (Washington, W.Va.) and Robin Rushton (Scarborough, Ontario, Canada).
