The honor marks the third consecutive year that the Waynesburg, Pa., native has earned Academic All-District II honors. Fritz’s placement as a first-team selection makes him a candidate for Academic All-American honors as well.
The junior holds a 3.81 grade-point average as an exercise physiology major. Fritz leads the team in batting average (.382) and RBI (43) while starting 47 games in centerfield for the Mountaineers.
University Division District II consists of all NCAA Division I universities in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Members of the All-District first team advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
To be nominated for the Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and a starter or significant reserve on his team.
Fritz and the Mountaineers return to diamond for a three-game BIG EAST series at Villanova on May 13-15.
