MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s tennis team plays its first true home match of the season when it battles BIG EAST foe Georgetown on Saturday, April 9, at the Mountaineer Tennis Complex.
The Mountaineers (11-6, 3-2) enter Saturday’s match with a great deal of momentum after defeating Seton Hall, 6-1, and Rutgers, 5-2, last weekend. Georgetown (8-9, 3-3) went 2-1 last weekend with victories over Connecticut (4-3) and Howard (4-3) and a loss to Boston College (0-7).
“We want to do everything in our power to keep the momentum rolling from last weekend,” coach Dan Silverstein says. “The focus and effort in practice has been great all week and we are really looking forward to playing in front of the home crowd for the first time all season.”
With a victory over the Hoyas, the Mountaineers would all but clinch a spot in the BIG EAST tournament for the first time since 2001. The first serve is scheduled to go in the air at 10 a.m.
