MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women's rowing team heads to Washington, D.C., on Saturday, April 9, to compete in the GW Invitational.
Last year at the GW regatta WVU took eighth place overall. This will be the Mountaineers second visit to the 18-year-old event.
Racing gets underway at 8 a.m., with the finals scheduled to start at noon. The regatta is sponsored by George Washington and is held in conjunction with Washington, D.C.'s Cherry Blossom Festival.
"I do know that we are a lot better equipped to race George Washington this weekend than at the end of spring break when we lost to them by 13 seconds," said LaRocque. "It will be a lot closer this weekend."
The Mountaineers are coming off of a tough weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic in which the varsity eight boat finished the course in a competitive time of 7:08.95, but failed to qualify for the grand or petite finals.
