MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia University sophomore guard Meg Bulger has garnered WBCA/Kodak All-America honorable mention honors.
One of 48 national finalists and one of just six WBCA Region I candidates, Bulger joins senior guard Yolanda Paige as WVU's honorable mention All-Americans this season. Paige was recently named to the AP Honorable Mention All-America team.
The 6-foot Pittsburgh, Pa., native led WVU and the BIG EAST in scoring this year at 19.5 points per game and guided the Mountaineers to the WNIT championship game last week and a 21-13 record. A unanimous all-BIG EAST first team selection, she is one of just 10 players (male of female) at WVU to score 600 or more points in a season, concluding the 2004-05 campaign with 663 points.
She also recorded 16 20-point games on the year, tops in the BIG EAST, made a team-best 88 three-pointers (second most in school history) and finished second on the squad with 188 rebounds.
"It's a great honor to be an All-American," Bulger said. "It's very special to be able to represent WVU and our team with this honor. I thank all my teammates for without them this wouldn't be possible. We had a very successful year and I'm looking forward to next year's endeavors."
Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game as an amateur sport for women and girls.
