The West Virginia University women's track team travels to Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday, April 2, for the Ohio State Relays at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
This weekend's meet will be the first time since the outdoor season began that the Mountaineers will compete as a team. A select group of WVU athletes competed at the Charlotte 49er Classic two weeks ago and the Stanford Invitational last weekend.
At UNC-Charlotte, sophomore Abbie Stechschulte recorded a first place finish in the heptathlon where she recorded a total of 4,727 points. Junior Nancy Regalbuto finished third in the event with 4,284 points. Sophomore Alexis Noel also had a productive day, placing second in the high jump with a leap of 1.65 meters.
Junior Lindsey Clark finished third in the javelin with a mark of 41.11 meters and junior Colleen Hughes recorded a fifth place finish in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:12.11.
West Virginia's only participants at the Stanford Invitational were seniors Jennifer Davis and Devon Plesuk who competed in the 5,000 meters.
Davis, a Romney, W.Va., native, recorded a ninth place finishing time of 16:26.22. The time was the second-fastest mark in school history behind Tara Struyk's time of 16:22.44. Devon Plesuk, a native of Calgary, Alberta, finished with a NCAA regional qualifying time of 17:10.18 and a 25th place finish.
Ashland, Findlay, Michigan State, Ohio State, West Virginia and Youngstown State will make up the six team field at this weekend's Ohio State Relays. Weather permitting, Saturday's events are scheduled to get underway at 10:30 a.m.
