Baseball: WVU Set for UConn

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University baseball team heads to Storrs, Conn., on Saturday, April 2, to face UConn in a three game weekend series.
The two teams are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at noon and the final game of the series on Sunday at noon as well.
The Mountaineers (10-15) are coming off of a split doubleheader with Coppin State at Hawley Field in Morgantown, W.Va., on Tuesday, March 29. WVU dropped the first game to CSU 10-9 in extra innings and then rebounded with a 13-3 victory in the second game.
Senior centerfielder Lee Fritz continues to lead the way for the Mountaineers both at the plate and on the field. Fritz is batting .425 heading into Saturday with seven doubles, three triples and three homeruns. The Waynesburg, Pa., native also has a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
The Huskies (15-6) enter Saturday's doubleheader on a high note after beating Fairfield 11-6. UConn's Larry Day and Tony Mallozzi combined for eight hits in the game. Jeff Hourigan currently leads the team in batting on the season with a .387 batting average.
The Huskies have won 12 of their last 15 games this season and are currently 1-1 in BIG EAST play.
WVU owns the all-time series lead over UConn with a 15-11 mark.
