MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia University and the BIG EAST have announced the 2005 football schedule.
The Mountaineers open the 2005 at Syracuse on either Saturday or Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Other road contests are at Maryland, Rutgers, South Florida and Cincinnati. Home games are against Pitt, Connecticut, Louisville, Virginia Tech, East Carolina and Wofford. Four games - Syracuse, Connecticut, Cincinnati and Pitt - are already slated for national television.
“It’s an exciting home schedule for our fans,” says WVU coach Rich Rodriguez. “Our program will get a lot of national exposure, in addition to being a great challenge for our young football team.”
West Virginia begins spring practice on March 21. The Gold-Blue Game is set for Saturday, April 16, at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium.
