Gymnastics: WVU Qualifies for Regionals

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University's gymnastics team has qualified for its 27th NCAA Regionals in the last 28 years and will compete, Saturday, April 9, at 6 p.m., in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center on the campus of the University of Florida.
The Mountaineers, with a 194.990 regional qualifying score will join five other schools at the NCAA Southeast Region hosted by No. 7 Florida. Joining the 26th-rated Mountaineers and the Gators will be No. 5 Georgia, No. 17 Denver, No. 25 North Carolina and No. 28 North Carolina State.
The nation's top 18 teams based on regional qualifying score were seeded into the six regions (three per region). The remaining three regional slots were filled from within the region. The winner and runner-up at each of the six region sites will make up the 12-team field at the NCAA Championships, set for April 21-23 in Auburn, Ala.
The Mountaineers drew the home rotation for the regional and will begin competition on the vault which will then be followed by a bye. WVU will then compete in the third and fourth rotations on uneven bars and the balance beam and will draw a bye in the fifth rotation. West Virginia will complete its competition on the floor exercise.
Tickets for the NCAA Southeast Region Championships are $10 for reserved seats (level 1), $8 for adult general admission (level 2 & 3), $5 for senior citizens and $3 for children 17 and under. Call the UF Ticket Office at (352) 375-4683, ext. 6800 for more information.
