MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team welcomes Niagara for its home opener at Hawley Field on Tuesday, March 15. A doubleheader is scheduled with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
West Virginia (4-9) is coming off a trip to Winston-Salem, N.C., as the Mountaineers added Cornell to the schedule. WVU looks to rebound at home after taking just one of three games from the Big Red.
Niagara (0-11) is looking for its first win of the season. The Purple Eagles are coming off two losses to South Alabama this past weekend.
Junior Mike Medici with his five hits leads Niagara and three runs scored against South Alabama in the weekend series, scoring a team-high three runs. This season, the junior catcher has a .308 batting average and a .410 slugging percentage.
Following Tuesday’s twinbill, West Virginia returns to action with a four-game series this weekend against Toledo at Hawley Field. First pitch on Friday is slated for 5 p.m.
