Women's Basketball: WVU Hosts WNIT First Round

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University's women's basketball team received a bid to play in the 2005 Postseason Sportsview.tv WNIT late Sunday evening.
The Mountaineers (17-12, 7-9) will host Maine (20-9, 16-2) at the WVU Coliseum, Friday, March 18, with a game time to be determined Monday, March 14.
West Virginia and the Black Bears, a member of the America East conference, will be meeting for the first time. WVU is making its second appearance in the Women's NIT having played in the tournament in 1984-85.
Thirty-two teams qualify for the Postseason Sportsview.tv WNIT including three from the BIG EAST (WVU, Villanova and St. John's). All tournament games are played at participating schools and no seeds are designated. For more information, visit the tournament's web site at womensnit.com.
