December 4, 2005 Today's game captains for West Virginia were Garin Justice, Jahmile Addae, George Shehl and Dwayne Mundle. Coach Rich Rodriguez selects game captains each week. Team captains will be selected at the end of the season.
Steve Slaton posted a rushing touchdown for the sixth straight game. His one-yard rush in the first quarter was his 14th rushing touchdown of the season.
West Virginia had one first time starter in defensive lineman Warren Young. Mike Lorello made his team leading 37th start and also team leading 36th consecutive start for the Mountaineers.
Darius Reynaud's second quarter touchdown was his fourth of the season. With the catch, Reynaud took over the team lead in receiving touchdowns.
Pat White's second quarter touchdown pass of seven yards to Darius Reynaud was his seventh touchdown pass of the season.
Antonio Lewis recorded his second sack of the season in the second quarter. It was also the second sack of his career.
Pat White's 76-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter was the longest touchdown run of his career. His previous best was a 65-yard touchdown run against USF in the third quarter of tonight's game. It was White's seventh rushing score of the season.
Pat White's 76-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was the longest touchdown run of the season and longest run from scrimmage for WVU this year. The play was also WVU's longest offensive scoring play in 2005. The previous best was White 65-yard run in the third quarter.
Dee McCann's third quarter interception was his fourth of the season and seventh of his career.
West Virginia has now intercepted at least one opponent's pass in seven straight games and the Mountaineers have recorded at least one interception in 10 of 11 games in 2005. WVU did not record an interception against Maryland.
Pat White became the first Mountaineer quarterback in history to rush for 100 yards or more in three straight games. He went over 100 yards rushing against USF for the third consecutive game and fourth time this season.
Pat White's 76-yard touchdown run ties a West Virginia best for the decade and under Rodriguez.
Jahmile Addae's fourth quarter interception was the seventh of his career and he now has recorded an interception in two straight games.
West Virginia has now won 25 of its last 29 regular season games.
West Virginia is 23-4 in its last 27 BIG EAST games.
The last time West Virginia posted an undefeated road record was 1993. The Mountaineers have now won five straight road games and eight of their last nine BIG EAST road games.
Rich Rodriguez improved to 15-4 in night games and 7-4 in road night games.
