ATLANTA – West Virginia University senior center Kevin Pittsnogle was named Big East Co-Player of the week along with Connecticut’s Rashad Anderson, the league announced Tuesday.
Pittsnogle poured in a team-high 25 points in West Virginia’s 92-68 upset win against then No. 7-rated Oklahoma in Oklahoma City in the O’Reilly Auto Parts All-College Classic.
Pittsnogle hit 8 of his 11 field goal attempts and was also 3 of 5 from 3 while making all six of his free throw tries. The Martinsburg native grabbed six rebounds to help West Virginia to its second biggest victory over a Top 10-ranked team in school history.
Anderson shared the honor after scoring a career-high 33 points on 7 of 7 shooting from 3-point range in UConn’s 129-61 win over Morehead State last week. The No. 2-ranked Huskies play Stony Brook in Hartford tonight.
West Virginia (7-3) returns to action on Friday night at the Coliseum facing Canisius. Tip off for that game is 7 pm and MSN’s coverage will be available both on Sirius Satellite Radio (channel 180) and on the Internet through MSNsportsNET.com and CSTV’s All-Access.

Meanwhile, West Virginia's Meg Bulger won the women's weekly award after helping the Mountaineers to a pair of victories over Cleveland State and Kennesaw State. The Pittsburgh native equaled a school record with 38 points in a win over Cleveland State and finished the week with averages of 31.5 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals.
West Virginia looks to boost its record to 8-2 next Sunday facing Texas A&M-Corpous Christi at 1 pm at the WVU Coliseum.
