Women's Soccer: Three Honored by SoccerBuzz

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Three West Virginia University women’s soccer players have earned regional accolades from SoccerBuzz it was announced today.
Seniors Marisa Kanela and Kambria Riggins along with freshman Amanda Cicchini each earned a spot on the Mid-Atlantic region’s second team.
Kanela, a Wantagh, N.Y., native, paced the Mountaineers for the second straight season, scoring nine goals and adding a career-best nine assists en route to first team all-BIG EAST honors. She was also selected to the Mid-Atlantic region’s second team by the NSCAA.
Cicchini, a Canadian national who has seen time with the full national team, started every game in her rookie campaign for the Mountaineers, helping West Virginia to its sixth-straight NCAA tournament appearance. She is a second-team all-BIG EAST midfielder who also earned third-team regional honors from the NSCAA.
Riggins, a Millersville, Pa., native, anchored a backline that posted nine shutouts on the season. Her play helped junior goalkeeper Lana Bannerman claim the school record for career shutouts. Riggins was a second team all-region selection from the NSCAA and earned third team all-BIG EAST honors as well.
Cicchini also earned a spot on SoccerBuzz’s all freshman squad, making her eligible for freshman All-America honors.
