MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University junior Dan Mozes has been named one of six finalists for the Rimington Award presented to the nation’s most outstanding center.
Mozes began the year at offensive guard but has since switched to center where he’s helped the Mountaineers rank fifth in rushing offense (258.2 ypg.). Last Thursday night Mozes helped pave the way for WVU runners to gain 451 yards on 62 carries in a 45-13 victory over Pitt. West Virginia is averaging 43.5 points and 415 yards in its last four games.
Joining Mozes as Rimington finalists are Florida senior Mike Degory, Minnesota senior Greg Eslinger, Colorado junior Mark Fenton, Ohio State senior Nick Mangold and Cal senior Marvin Phillip.
The Rimington Trophy presentation gala will take place on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at 6:30 pm at the Rococo Theatre in Lincoln, Neb. The featured speakers will be 1973 Heisman Trophy winner John Cappelletti of Penn State and college football winningest coach John Gagliardi.
