Wrestling: WVU Travels to Las Vegas Invite

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University wrestling team travels to the 24th annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational to compete Dec. 2-3 at the Cashman Center in Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas Invitational is known as one of the top collegiate wrestling tournaments in the country. In 2004 Michigan claimed the team title and returns to defend it in 2005.
The Mountaineers are coming off a very successful trip to the Navy Invitational in which senior Matt Lebe (157) and freshman Brandon Rader (141) claimed individual titles en route to the team taking second place with 83.5 points behind host Navy. Three WVU wrestlers, Romaine Malcolm (165) Kurt Brenner (174), and Larry Hall (149), all garnered second place at the tournament, while David Jauregui (149) and Jared Villers (197) took third. Eric Mullen (141) also placed fourth on the afternoon.
Last season at the Las Vegas Invitational three Mountaineer wrestlers placed including Lebe who finished the highest at third overall; 141-pounder Seth Lisa took fourth place overall and 174-pounder Ryan Wilman finished seventh. Wilman graduated last season.
West Virginia’s EWL foes Edinboro and Pitt are also slated to make an appearance at the tournament this weekend.
