Football: Slaton; White Recognized

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – A pair of West Virginia football standouts made the Rivals.com Freshman All-American team announced on Tuesday.
Running back Steve Slaton made the first team on the strength of his 13 touchdowns and 5.5 yards-per-carry rushing average. The Levittown, Pa., resident has rushed for 838 yards and has also tacked on a pair of TD receptions since assuming a starting role midway through the season.
Quarterback Pat White was named to the second team after emerging against Louisville. The Daphne, Ala., native led the Mountaineers to a 17-point fourth-quarter comeback against the Cardinals in a 46-44 triple-overtime win, and has rushed for 698 yards and five touchdowns and has passed for 619 yards and six scores.
West Virginia (9-1, 6-0) looks to close out its regular season on a positive note this Saturday night at South Florida. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
