Women's Tennis: WVU Wins Two Doubles Flights

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s tennis team won two doubles flights at the Martha Thorn Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 8, in Morgantown, W.Va.
In flight A, the duo of Stacey Percival and Raynie Theis defeated a pair from Pitt to claim the title.
“We played great tennis all around today,” head coach Dan Silverstein said. “It was the best doubles we’ve played since I’ve been here as a coach.”
Ashley Constantine and Monica Lyskawa beat Grossman-Simonetti of Bucknell in the semifinal before moving on to win the final match against Smith-Harclerode of Pitt by a score of 8-1.
“Ashley and Monica had a dominating performance today,” Silverstein said. “They took control early and never let up.”
In flight B, Kelly Walsh and Catherine Koontz competed in the third place match and defeated Davie-Hughes of Pitt.
The Martha Thorn Invitational continues tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 9, when singles play commences at 9 a.m., weather permitting.
