Women's Tennis: WVU Successful in Doubles

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women's tennis team was successful in doubles play on day one of the Martha Thorn Invitational on Friday, Oct. 7, in Morgantown, W.Va.
The Mountaineers competed with three doubles teams in the three flights. In flight A, the duo of Stacey Percival and Raynie Theis defeated Nitch-Libor of Loyola College before beating Ceuva-Paravicini of Toledo to put them into the flight A finals.
"Raynie and Stacey played very well and we're excited about them being in the finals today," head coach Dan Silverstein said.
In flight B, Kelly Walsh and Catherine Koontz enjoyed a bye in the first round before being defeated by Belsky-Rivero of Toledo in a hard fought match.
"Kelly and Catherine played well but Toledo was able to come up with some big points," Silverstein said.
In flight C action, Ashley Constantine and Monica Lyskawa had a bye in the first round before defeating Dixon-Thomas of Youngstown State. They face Bucknell today in the semifinals.
Due to the inclement weather, the tournament was forced to move indoors at the West View Tennis Center where doubles play will resume today at 3 p.m., followed by some singles play.
