Men's Soccer: WVU to Host Georgetown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University men’s soccer team hosts Georgetown at the Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 8, in Morgantown, W.Va. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Mountaineers (7-4-1, 3-2-1 BIG EAST) are coming off of a 2-0 road win against Pitt. Junior forward Jarrod Smith tallied his team-high seventh goal of the season against the Panthers. The Havelock, New Zealand, native also leads the team in points with 16.
The WVU defense recorded its seventh shutout of the season led by goalkeeper Nick Noble. The Damascus, Md., native’s goals against average stands at 0.74 in 1,100 minutes of play.
The Hoyas (7-4-0, 3-3-0 BIG EAST) dropped its last match to Seton Hall 4-1. Ricky Schramm leads the team’s offense with seven goals and two assists on the year.
Starting goalkeeper Andrew Kessler has posted a 1.96 GAA in 873 minutes of play so far this season.
The match is extremely important for both teams as they sit in a five-way tie along with Seton Hall, Notre Dame and Connecticut atop the BIG EAST’s Blue Division. All five teams have 10 conference points apiece to date.
Last season the Mountaineers lost 2-1 to the Hoyas on the road after jumping out to a 1-0 lead. Georgetown leads the all-time series 8-1.
