MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia climbed three spots in the USA Today Coaches Poll and two spots in the AP poll, released today.
The Mountaineers are now 17th in the Coaches Poll with 539 points and 18th in the AP poll with 472 points. West Virginia (6-1) was 20th in both polls last week. WVU was scheduled to face South Florida last Saturday but the game was postponed until Dec. 3 due to Hurricane Wilma.
No other Big East teams are ranked this week; Louisville is 26th while Rutgers received one vote in both polls.
West Virginia returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Milan Puskar Stadium against 4-3 Connecticut, which lost 26-24 to Rutgers at home on Saturday. With the Pitt game being announced a sell out on Friday the only remaining opportunity to see the Mountaineers in action at home is against the Huskies.
