Volleyball: Mountaineers to Face Two BIG EAST Foes

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University volleyball team continues its road trip traveling to take on Cincinnati on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Cincinnati, Ohio, and then taking on No. 6 Louisville on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. in Louisville, Ky.
The Mountaineers (14-8, 2-5 BIG EAST) are coming off a road win against Youngstown State on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Sophomore Kailee Goold had her 15th double-double of the season with 41 assists and 10 digs. Freshman Lisa Hough had a career-high 12 kills while senior Julie Hockenson leads the team with 1.18 kills per game.
Cincinnati (13-7, 4-2 BIG EAST) defeated Wright State on Tuesday, Oct. 18, to get their seventh straight victory. Maria Pongonis leads the Bearcats with 277 kills on the season, while Jessie Nevitt is averaging 1.36 blocks per game.
On Sunday, West Virginia takes on undefeated No. 6 Louisville. The Cardinals (18-0, 6-0 BIG EAST) are first in the conference with a team hitting percentage with .295 and also lead the league in kills with 16.49 per game. Jennifer Hoffman is No. 1 in the nation with a hitting percentage of .488 and Lena Usteymenko is No. 16 in kills per game with 4.96.
This will complete West Virginia's four-game road trip and WVU will return home to face Seton Hall on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m.
