MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University women's tennis team will travel to West Point, N.Y. to take part in the ITA Regionals from Friday, Oct. 21- Tuesday, Oct. 26.
The ITA Regionals is composed of the top players in the East region, which WVU competes in. The Mountaineers boast Monica Lyskawa as its main draw participant after she posted a record of 3-1 in the fall season.
"This is the best tournament and composed of the top players in the region," head coach Dan Silverstein said. "We look for big things from Monica and she can compete with the best."
In doubles action, West Virginia will look to senior Raynie Theis and sophomore Stacey Percival as they will compete in the tournaments main draw. The pair posted a 3-0 record at the Martha Thorn Invitational.
"Raynie and Stacey have 11 wins in two years while competing together," Silverstein said. "They're one of our strongest doubles teams and have the potential to make it far in the tournament."
The duo of Catherine Koontz and Kelly Walsh will also compete as they posted a 5-1 record last year.
"Catherine and Kelly form a strong doubles team and proved that last year with big wins in the BIG EAST," Silverstein said. "We look forward to them moving on and qualifying for the main draw."
