Rifle: Schedule Released; Hosting Army Saturday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University rifle coach Marsha Beasley today announced the team’s 2005-06 schedule.
West Virginia will open its season Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Mountaineer Rifle Range against defending national champion Army, beginning at 8 a.m.
The match will be the first of five home events for West Virginia and also the first of six matches against Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) opponents.
Including Army, home matches this season include GARC opponents Mississippi, North Carolina State and Kentucky. WVU’s final home match will take place Jan. 14 against Alaska-Fairbanks, a team that won the national championship six straight years before Army won the title last year.
West Virginia, a 13-time NCAA champion, last won the national championship in 1998 and is coming off a 3-8 season last year and seventh-place finish in the GARC.
