Gymnastics: Season Begins with Blue-Gold Meet

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team will begin its 2005 season on Sunday, Jan. 9, when the Mountaineers compete in the annual Blue-Gold intrasquad meet. The exhibition meet will begin at 1 p.m. at the WVU Coliseum. Admission is free.
Several celebrity judges are planned to participate, including former Mountaineer and 1997 national gymnast of the year Kristin Quackenbush, and WVU football coach Rich Rodriguez with his daughter Raquel.
The meet will be a final tuneup for West Virginia before its regular season opener at Kent State on Sunday, Jan. 16, at 1 p.m. The Mountaineers, ranked 23rd in the nation by the GymInfo preseason coaches poll, are coached by Linda Burdette in her 31st year.
