Hofstra enters the weekend with a 7-3 dual meet record under 10th-year coach Tom Ryan. The Pride, ranked in the Top 10 for the majority of the season, features ranked wrestlers at four weight classes.
The meet’s featured bout will be at 149 pounds between WVU’s Mike Torriero and Hofstra’s Jon Masa. Torriero, a senior from Sound Beach, N.Y., holds a 6-2 record and is ranked No. 18 in the nation. Masa, a junior from Long Beach, N.Y., is currently ranked No. 9 and sports an 11-7 clip.
West Virginia, 2-4 on the season, will hold a youth clinic prior to the dual meet at 11:15 a.m. for youth wrestlers with a paid admission. Veteran head coach Craig Turnbull and Olympic freestyle head coach Zeke Jones will serve as clinicians.
The Mountaineers resume Eastern Wrestling League action with a road trip to neighboring-rival Pitt on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m.
