MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The National Wrestling Coaches Association announced the pairings for the 2005 NWCA Cliff Keen National Duals late Tuesday evening, with Division I matches starting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22.
West Virginia, ranked 16th in the nation, will begin their run through the duals by facing Illinois, the No. 2 seed and 2nd-ranked team in the country. A win would match the Mountaineers with the winner of the Oklahoma/Penn State dual, while a loss would send WVU to the consolation bracket to face the loser of that match.
The Mountaineers will join the nation’s top collegiate wrestling programs at Cleveland State University on January 21-23 to battle for the national dual meet championships at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals, presented by Hershey’s SmartZone Bar.
The event brings together the Top 16 teams in NCAA Division I, II and III to compete for the national dual meet championship in their respective division. Eight Division I NCAA champions, including two-time champion Greg Jones, are competing in the event alongside the Mountaineers.
For the second straight year the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Cleveland State University will host the event. Individual tickets are still available and can be purchased at ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 216-241-5555.
