MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s tennis team returns to action on Oct. 1-3 when they travel to State College, Pa., to compete in the Penn State Invitational.
The Mountaineers are coming off a positive showing at the Maryland Invitational on Sept. 24-26 including a second place finish in Flight B doubles from junior Raynie Theis and freshman Stacey Percival.
Players competing this weekend for the Mountaineers include Theis, sophomores Catherine Koontz, Kelly Walsh and Ashley Constantine and freshmen Natalia Prinz and Monica Lyskawa.
In an effort to improve on the doubles side, coach Dan Silverstein will tinker with his units to find the best chemistry for the spring season. Prinz will team with Theis, Walsh and Lyskawa will play together and Constantine and Koontz will be paired with one another.
“We had a great week of practice and the girls are really looking forward to the weekend,” Silverstein says. “We will continue to switch up our doubles combinations until we find our best pairs for the spring season.”
