MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University volleyball team travels to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Sept. 24-25 for three matches in the Marist Invitational.
WVU (4-6) looks to improve on last weekend’s 1-2 performance at the Penn State Classic where they defeated UMBC (3-0) and fell to Yale (1-3) and Penn State (0-3).
The Mountaineers take on Columbia (2 p.m.) and host Marist (6 p.m.) on Friday, Sept. 24, before battling Hartford at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25.
West Virginia enters the weekend leading the BIG EAST and ranking 14th in the nation in digs per game with just over 19 per contest. Sophomore Aurora Ebert-Santos is the primary reason for West Virginia’s success in that area. The Frisco, Colo., native is second in the conference in digs per game with 5.14.
Senior Alison Zemanski, a Perrysburg, Ohio, native, is second in the BIG EAST in blocks with 48, an average of 1.37 per game.
