MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - For the first time this season, the West Virginia University women's soccer team has cracked the nation's Top 10.
The Mountaineers, who are 7-1-0 after recording two BIG EAST victories last weekend, were tabbed No. 9 in this week's SoccerBuzz slate.
West Virginia also climbed in the NSCAA/adidas and Soccer America rankings. WVU is the 11th-ranked team in each of those polls.
WVU's place in the latest round of national rankings marks the 25th straight week that West Virginia has had a spot in the Top 25.
The Mountaineers look to build on their four-match win streak with two conference matches this weekend. West Virginia plays host to No. 25 Villanova at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium on Friday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. It will then face St. John's at 3 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 26, in Morgantown as well. Sunday's match is the second-half of a double header with the men's team and fans in attendance will receive a variety of giveaways as part of U.S. Youth Soccer Month.
