BLACKSBURG, Va. - The West Virginia University men's soccer team (2-2-0) fell to Virginia Tech (3-2-0) 1-0 in the final game of the Virginia Tech Classic, Sunday, Sept. 12, in Blacksburg, Va.
Just like against Liberty on Friday night the Mountaineers held their opponent scoreless in the first half, this time allowing only three shots.
The game would remain scoreless 25 minutes into the second half as both teams would not give the other many chances on goal. Then in the 69th minute Virginia Tech freshman forward Marcus Reed would take a pass from sophomore Ben Nason and boot it past goalkeeper Nick Noble.
The Hokies defense would only let the Mountaineer offense get off three shots in the second half and only five in the entire match.
WVU finishes the tournament 1-1-0 after Sunday's loss. The Mountaineers began the weekend with a 2-1 victory over Liberty.
WVU returns home Wednesday, Sept. 15, when they host Marshall at 7 p.m. at Dick Dlesk soccer stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
