MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University women’s soccer assistant Jennifer DePrez has been named assistant head coach.
DePrez, a native of Hilton, N.Y., has been an assistant under head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown since the inception of women’s soccer at West Virginia in 1996.
Entering her ninth season, the former collegiate All-American, has helped the Mountaineers to four straight NCAA tournament berths, most recently a Sweet 16 appearance in 2003. Likewise, she played a large role in the development of All-Americans Chrissie Abbott, Katie Barnes and Lisa Stoia as well former WUSA player Rachel Kruze.
In 2003, DePrez was nationally honored an assistant coach of the year by AFLAC.
DePrez’ daily responsibilities include recruiting, scheduling, scouting and administrative tasks. On the field, she helps train the Mountaineer forwards and midfielders.
“This is a well-deserved promotion for Jenn,” says Izzo-Brown. “She has been here from the beginning. I firmly believe that she is qualified to go anywhere in the country and be a head coach and I’m very fortunate to have her working alongside me.”
