WVU senior forward Laura Kane, sophomore goalkeeper Lana Bannerman and freshman defender Natalie Cocchi were recently invited to play on a Brazilian all-star team that features former Brazilian national team members and WUSA players.
The tournament begins on May 26 and ends on May 29. All matches will be played in Lindoia Stadium in San Paulo. Bannerman, Cocchi and Kane will participate in matches against the United States U-21 National Team, the Chinese U-21 National Team and the full Brazilian National Team before returning to the States.
“Anytime you have the opportunity to play against national team competition, it will be a great experience,” said head coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “These three will face high caliber athletes and get to play soccer at its most competitive level. We are happy for their opportunity and look forward to them bringing the benefits of their experience back to WVU as we begin to prepare for the fall.”
