Baseball: WVU Closes 2004 Season At UConn

The Mountaineers own an 8-15 record in BIG EAST play and are 21-28 overall. WVU is led by Grant Psomas who is batting .355 with a team-best nine home runs and 45 RBI. Southpaw Zac Cline anchors the West Virginia pitching staff as he leads the nation in complete games with nine and boasts an ERA of 2.79.
The Huskies are coming off a 6-2 victory over Northeastern on Wednesday and sit 25-27-1 overall and 8-15 in BIG EAST action. UConn is led offensively by senior Mark Peluso who is batting .362 with 43 RBI on the season.
Saturday’s doubleheader is scheduled for noon with game one marking the 24th all-time meeting between the schools with WVU holding a slight 13-10 series edge. A single contest on Sunday is slated for noon.
A year ago, West Virginia swept the Huskies in three games (18-14, 9-3, 10-5) in Morgantown. The Mountaineers have not lost a series to UConn since 2000.
