Baseball: Fritz Earns Academic Honor

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University baseball player Lee Fritz has been named to the 2004 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District II baseball team.

Fritz's placement on the first team makes him a candidate for Academic All-American honors. The honor marks the second time the Waynesburg, Pa., native has earned Academic All-District II honors, making the second-team a year ago.

The junior holds a 3.73 GPA as an exercise physiology major. Fritz leads the team in batting average (.361), hits (60) and doubles (14) while starting 44 games in the outfield for West Virginia.

Fritz and the Mountaineers return to action tonight for a 7:00 p.m., contest against East Tennessee State at Hawley Field.
