MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s baseball game against Maryland on Wednesday, April 28, originally scheduled at Shipley Field, has been moved to Harry Grove Stadium in Frederick, Md., at 7 p.m.
Harry Grove Stadium (capacity 5,400) is home of the Frederick Keys, single-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.
The Maryland baseball team has been forced to relocate several of its home games throughout March and April. Weather-related construction delays in the completion of a project to install artificial turf in the infield at Shipley Field have barred the Terps from playing their home games at the field.
The Mountaineers (15-22, 6-11) have won six of their last eight games, including a sweep at BIG EAST foe Georgetown this weekend. WVU is led offensively by outfielder Lee Fritz and second baseman Kyle Matuszek, both batting .348 on the season.
The Terps (18-24, 3-14 ACC) play host to James Madison tonight at 7 p.m., before taking on the Mountaineers. Pacing Maryland’s offensive attack is outfielder Will Frazier. The junior is batting .384 with 26 RBI and 31 runs scored.
Last season, the two teams split a pair of games and a single contest in Morgantown this year was cancelled because of heavy rain. Maryland leads the all-time series against West Virginia by a 28-15-1 margin.
WVU returns home on Saturday, May 1, for a BIG EAST doubleheader against St. John’s at Hawley Field. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
