MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University gymnastics coach Linda Burdette announced today that senior gymnast Jessica Bartgis has been granted a fifth-year of eligibility and will compete for the Mountaineers in the 2005 campaign.
"We are very happy to have Jessica back for another season," Burdette says. "It's a real boost for this program. She had an excellent season last year and is even better this season."
Bartgis, 5-6, from Frederick, Md., did not compete her sophomore season. However, in the last two years she has been one of WVU's most consistent gymnasts. This season she has tallied four 39.0 or better all-around scores and notched the first perfect 10.0 of her career on vault in the Mountaineers' win over Cornell earlier this season.
