MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s tennis team (5-1) takes to the road on Friday, March 5, for a two-match road stretch beginning with a 6 p.m. tilt at Cincinnati.
The Bearcats opened the season with four straight victories but have since fallen five consecutive times. Cincinnati’s last victory came on Feb. 7 with a 6-1 home victory over Bowling Green. Despite their recent struggles, UC has yet to fall in the friendly confines of the Five Seasons Country Club where they are a perfect 4-0.
The Mountaineers will close out the weekend on Saturday at 11 a.m. when they play at Louisville.
The Cardinals have already played a total of 16 matches this season and show an 11-5 record. UL has won nine of their last 12 and currently own a 10-2 record at home.
The Mountaineers enter the weekend winners of their last four. West Virginia’s last match resulted in a 7-0 victory over conference foe Georgetown in Arlington, Va., on Sunday, Feb. 29.
“We are looking forward to taking on two solid Conference USA opponents in Cincinnati and Louisville,” coach Dan Silverstein says. “Both teams play great tennis at home and we know we are going to have to be at the top of our game if we want to come out on top.”
