MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –West Virginia University baseball coach Greg Van Zant announced Thursday that the Mountaineers’ home baseball game scheduled for 5 pm Friday evening against Akron has been moved up to a 3 pm start.
The game time was changed to avoid a conflict with West Virginia’s NIT basketball game against Rhode Island to be played at the WVU Coliseum Friday night at 7 pm.
West Virginia, 4-9, last played on Sunday against Stony Brook, dropping a 6-1 decision to the Sea Wolves. Akron comes into this weekend’s series with a 5-5 record, having last defeated Murray State 8-3 on Sunday.
The two teams will play a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 pm and will complete the four-game series on Sunday with a 1 pm start time.
